The Moor Pool Heritage Trust has received planning approval for the first stage of the restoration of the Nettlefold Ecology Centre. This is the completion of the allotment support area at the rear of the building.
Currently the area is overgrown with left over rubbish from its previous use as the builders yard storage area. The land slopes down towards the main building which has necessitated creating three levels with ramps and steps to link them.
The lower level along the rear of the building will provide access from the single side gate and eventually the new door into the main building.
The allotment area will be self contained initially, as plans are finalised and funding put in place the restoration of the main building. The commercial size greenhouse will provide the opportunity for complimentary Key Stage learning opportunities for smaller visiting groups. The allotment store will be used for storage of material, tools and clothing. A double gate replacing the existing gate will provide access for deliveries.
